A very warm welcome to St. John’s academic year 2011/2012 from everyone on the PTA committee. This year’s PTA activities started with a
coffee morning to welcome our new parents to the school (last Thursday), after some very positive feedback we hope to do this again. As always, our Autumn term is jam packed and full of fun, we’ve got discos & parties as well as the Fireworks Extravaganza and Christmas Bazaar! Please support us in any way you can – come along and have some fun or volunteer to help on the day. Thank you.

PTA Annual General Meeting – Wednesday 19th October 3:30pm in School Hall

The AGM gives everyone involved in the school a chance to hear about what the PTA team have delivered in the past year and hear about events we undertake and where money might go, it’s also the official time for change into/out of/within the team. Do contact Anita Young, Julie Smith or Sarah Brunning if you are interested in joining or finding out more.

Following the success of the coffee morning we will offer tea, coffee and cakes, with an opportunity to chat to each other and watch a slideshow of the children making good use of the additional resources provided by the PTA over the last year. The official business will be kept short and concise!

At the start of the year that we ask for a £2 contribution per family for ‘PTA Subs’. Subs are a voluntary donation for each family within the school and as we have 150 families at St. John’s so hope to receive in the region of £300. The subs basically cover our annual liability insurance, and the paper and photocopying we do over the year. These are essential items and if we do not meet the cost via Subs then it has to come out of the funds raised by the events. Please hand your subs into the School Office marked as PTA Subs. Thank you.


St. John’s Community Fireworks Spectacular

 This year’s event will take place from 6.30pm on Friday 4 November.  We have an exciting new venue at Ransomes Sports Club, Sidegate Avenue, on the field that backs onto our sports field. (This change has been necessary due to insurance requirements.)  The format for the fireworks display will be the same as before with the additional benefit of exclusive use of Ransomes clubhouse.  Further details will follow shortly.


Personalised Tea Towels

Based on the success a good few years ago, we will be doing personalised school tea towels again, a perfect Christmas present for family and friends. Look out for the flyer in your book bag.

Second-hand Uniform information

Mrs Falla (class 4) and Mrs. Shaw (class 4 & 1) will run the 2nd hand uniform Boutique. Sales happen regularly through the school year, or feel free to approach them in the playground.

Please be aware that as the lost property box in the entrance fills up very quickly, it is emptied at the end of each month and
anything unnamed goes into the Boutique.
